I Refused a 25 -Year Mortgage. I Paid It Off in 4.

Most people don’t own homes. Homes own them. They sign up for 25–30 years of debt, work 2–3 jobs, live under pressure, and spend their best years paying banks and insurance companies. Back in 2017, I decided I wanted a small apartment. My dream was simple: a cozy home on the third floor with a beautiful view.
To make it happen, I set a clear strategy:
I saved aggressively with a goal of paying 45% as a down payment to reduce the interest rate.
I lived with discipline: No new items: Use what you have.
The most important habit? Tracking every expense and every dollar saved.
In 2019, I found my apartment:
1.     117 square meters
2.      Third floor (dream achieved!)
3.     Mortgage rate: 5.5% for 10 years

I rented the apartment for one year and continued saving aggressively. The following year, I made a large principal payment, turning a 10-year mortgage into a 4-year mortgage.
In 2023, I was mortgage free and owned my apartment. I’ve enjoyed traveling to:
Egypt, Lebanon, Uganda, Thailand, Georgia, Turkey, US and met amazing people and saw incredible places
Paying off your mortgage fast isn’t hard. It’s about strategy, discipline, and mindset.
If you’re:
Stuck in long-term mortgage stress
Paying interest without seeing progress
Wanting a clear payoff strategy
